Costa Mesa Green Home in Summer

Golden yarrow, coyote mint, grape and California aster line the path along the side yard. Purple three awned grass accents the foreground.

Wild morning glories (yes, there is a native species of morning glory) climb the fence to make a quick screen from the prying eyes of golfers in the back yard. :)

Newport Beach Garden in Spring

This Newport Beach Native Plant Landscape was planted by volunteers at a Back to Natives Landscape workshop last January (2010). See photos of the workshop HERE.

I love the way the dudleya and the grasses look in the DG (decomposed granite) mulch.

The frequent rain gave it a jump start and it looks fabulous in thes photos taken this Spring!

The golden yarrow in flower is spectacular!
Holes were drilled in this rock wall and dudleya and blue eyed grass were planted within them. They are watered by modified drip irrigation (micro emitters) from above.
See pics from our irrigation workshop HERE.

Mature Native Landscape in Winter

The locally native landscaping in this Laguna Beach yard has grown to maturity, and looks beautiful, espcially after the Winter rains.
Sages stretch toward the sunlight.
Strawberries spread. They're one of my favorite groundcovers.
A "hedge" of wild roses.

This hummingbird waits impatiently for us to leave so he can return to nectaring on the flowers.
